You only pay when you tap Translate. Listening and transcription cost nothing. A typical sentence (~100 characters) costs about 300 credits.

The minimum purchase is $1 for 900 credits. In marquee mode, that's about 15 minutes of live translation. In audio mode, transcription is free — you only spend credits when you tap Translate.
Do credits expire?
No. Your translation credits stay in your account until you use them. There's no expiration date or use-it-or-lose-it pressure.
